Origin & type of Beef

We at McDonald's Ireland are committed to bringing you the best quality beef to enjoy in your McDonald's favourites, every time. All our beef is 100 per cent Irish. Our suppliers select only the best cuts of boneless meat, which are the forequarter and flank, for our beef burgers and use absolutely no fillers, binders or additives.

Traceability/Safety Checks

McDonald's Ireland has been giving you information on the origin of our beef since we opened our first Irish restaurant in 1977.

The traceability processes used by our suppliers allows them to identify: which animals the beef came from; the animal's medical history; what it was fed; where it was slaughtered; where the beef was processed into beef burgers and finally how it arrived at our restaurants.

Animal Welfare

You have told us that you are concerned about animal welfare. So we at McDonald’s Ireland want to assure you that we purchase beef only from suppliers that follow strict animal welfare standards.

In 2001, McDonald’s Europe set up the McDonald's Agricultural Assurance Programme which includes standards for raising animals in conditions that take into account their natural needs in terms of food and living conditions.

Standards/Controls

We take huge pride in sourcing Irish beef and our proud that Irish beef is also supplied to other McDonald's across Europe. Our standards for our beef are very high and it starts at the processing plant with inspection. If the beef isn't good enough, it's rejected. Our beef is then blended and then minced into 100 per cent beef burgers. Our burgers are then immediately flash frozen to seal in the nutrients and flavour.

Our Beef

Our burgers taste so good because of our attention to detail at every stage from farm to restaurant. Now, every time you tuck into a hamburger, cheeseburger, Big Mac®, Quarter pounder with Cheese or a Big Tasty™, you know you're getting the real deal.
