Fish

Origins

We had lots to consider when sourcing the best fish for our famous filet-o-fish: it had to taste great, but it also had to come from sustainable sources.

Then we found it – Hoki from New Zealand. Our suppliers do extensive checks when filleting to remove as much bone as possible. Then it’s cut it into portions, breaded, frozen and ready to be cooked just the way you like it.

Conservation International

It’s important for everyone to strive for a more environmentally friendly way of working. So when we’re sourcing fish for our restaurants around Europe, we ask Conservation International for help.

With their expert assistance and advice, we look for sustainable and well-managed fisheries that can meet our needs. McDonald’s Europe carry out assessments of fisheries, rating them on three criteria

  • Management quality

  • Fish stock status

  • Marine environment and biodiversity conservation.
